A wool pillow is made from the sheared wool of sheep, although in certain cases other animals, such as goats, can be shorn for material such as cashmere. Unlike plant fibers, wool can be harvested repeatedly from the same sheep, giving each individual animal a much higher yield than a corresponding wheat or cotton acreage.

Sheep are also a fairly economical livestock to keep, unlike the much more voraciously eating cow family. In fact, sheep can graze on acreage that would be otherwise unsuitable for agricultural use, making it an ideal use of otherwise untenable agricultural land. Sheep's wool can be used to make everything from clothing, to a wool pillow or blanket.

A wool pillow incorporates all of the advantages inherent in wool into a pillow. For example: wool wicks moisture away from your body. This is why wool socks are used for cold weather activity where your feet may get wet; they transport the moisture away from your feet, keeping them dry, and thus warm. The same effect will take night time sweat away from your body, allowing you to stay dry and comfortable throughout the night.
