The soybean is one of the most versatile crops known to man. It can be used to produce an impressive array of products, from well known staples of the culinary world such as soy sauce and tofu, to non-ingestible applications such as a soybean pillow.

How is a soybean pillow made? Well, soy can be processed into a fiber, much like another well known pod plant, cotton. This soy fiber can then be spun into both the outer cloth sack for a pillow and the fluffier interior stuffing. In some cases, the soy is blended with other vegetables such as corn. This is done to increase fiber strength and resilience.

So what are the advantages of a soybean pillow? One of the biggest reasons to go soy is that compared to other fibers, such as cotton, soy is an environmentally friendly crop. It is also hypo allergenic. This means if you suffer a reaction to traditional stuffing such as linen, down, or wool that you won't react to a soy fiber.
